Hyundai has unveiled the 2021 Hyundai Elantra and its dramatic redesign is stealing the show. Not only is this updated Elantra bringing an eye-catching four-door-coupe look, but it is also bringing segment-first technology, a hybrid model option, and an impressive fuel economy in every model.
The compact sedan is unleashing a wide array of noteworthy features that shoppers all around Mankato, Minneapolis, and Rochester will find are more than worth the wait. The 2021 Elantra is set to hit the market in the fourth quarter of this year, so until the vehicle finds its way onto the Hyundai of Mankato lot, let’s see what this Hyundai sedan has to offer.
The seventh-generation Elantra is sitting on an entirely new vehicle platform that includes a longer wheelbase, lower roofline, and overall wider stance. This is the second Hyundai vehicle to feature what Hyundai calls a Sensuous Sportiness design identity.
On top of the overall redesign of the 2021 Elantra, this Hyundai model is bringing a range of new technology features to Minneapolis and Rochester drivers. The 2021 Hyundai Elantra is bringing segment-first wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity to make staying in sync while behind the wheel even easier. With the help of the optional Digital Key, the Elantra can be unlocked, started, and driven all with your smartphone nearby, no physical key needed.
The 2021 Elantra also received an upgraded voice-recognition system that now features enhanced Speech-to-Meaning® and Deep Meaning Understanding™ technologies. The immersive cabin of the Elantra also offers two massive 10.25-inch multimedia screens that are housed behind just one piece of glass. With these two displays in tow, plus a customizable 64-color mood lighting system, the Elantra sedan’s cabin has a futuristic feel to it that drivers will love.
For the first time ever the Elantra will now be available with a hybrid powertrain that includes a 1.6-liter GDI Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine paired to permanent-magnet electric motors. These systems will deliver 139 total horsepower and up to 195 pound-feet of torque on Minneapolis roads. The 2021 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid is set to offer a manufacturer-estimated combined fuel economy rating of over 50 mpg. Gas-powered Hyundai Elantra models will be fitted with a 2.0-liter MPI Atkinson Cycle engine that is set to generate 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque.
