The Meaning Behind IONIQ
The IONIQ brand began in 2016 and has since created electric, plug-in, and hybrid fuel alternatives, giving drivers the opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint. The first IONIQ model to be released was the IONIQ 5 in 2021. The sedan-style 2023 IONIQ 6 is already garnering much attention and excitement for its innovative design and range of features.
Hyundai coined the term IONIQ by combing the words “ion” and “unique.” Two positive ions are what help power the IONIQ EV to fit every lifestyle. The brand was also named after the Project IONIQ research lab. The purpose of this lab was to break down any mobility-related stumbling blocks preventing us from achieving our individual goals.
